LONDON – Police evacuated crowds and cordoned off Trafalgar Square on Saturday morning, rocking the British capital on the third day of Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth.
The The Metropolitan Police did not say what prompted the evacuation, but said in a tweet that officers were currently at the scene in the square, which is at the opposite end of the mall from Buckingham Palace, where a major concert is scheduled for Saturday night.
A few minutes later, the police tweeted that “the incident is now over” and that they would reopen the place “in due course”. No further details on the nature of the incident were immediately available Saturday morning.
