Here is a new development that will surprise absolutely no one: Ivanka Trump is double sided. Or, she talks out of both sides of her mouth. Or, she is deceitful, prone to saying whatever will please the audience in front of her, while remaining consistent and cohesive.
Proof of this severe but fair assessment? Last night Don Lemon tonight aired interview footage of Alex Holder Documentary Discovery+ Unprecedented, which was only revealed very recently after the filmmaker received a congressional subpoena from the House Select Committee seeking behind-the-scenes footage of the former president donald trump and his closest allies, including, of course, his family members.
When news of the subpoena broke, reports have surfaced that the allies were “blindsided” that the footage would be released. Maggie Haberman Told New day “I understand there is some anxiety among some family members about what might have been said. Again, not necessarily for legal reasons, but simply because there are things like what we just talked about that contradict other statements that have been made.
And now that the footage from the interview has emerged, we now know why.
Ivanka Trump told the documentary filmmaker this in defense of her father’s baseless quest to overturn the 2020 election results:
I think, as the president said, every vote should be counted and should be heard, and he campaigned for the voiceless, and I think a lot of Americans feel very disenfranchised in this moment, and really questioned the sanctity of our elections, and that’s not fair. This is not acceptable, and he must take up this fight. See. You fight for what you love most, and he loves this country and the people of this country, and he wants to make sure their voices are heard, not silenced, and will keep fighting, until all legal remedies are exhausted, and that is what he must do.
We can parse the words more granularly, but that’s a column for another day. Careful observers of the January 6 hearings will note, however, that her message here is notably different from what she said under oath and was broadcast for the world to see.
When asked by a committee member “How did it affect your views on the election when Attorney General Barr made that statement?” Mrs Trump replied: “It affected my view. I respect Attorney General Barr. So I accepted what he was saying.
For the record, the Attorney General Bill Barre called Trump’s allegations a stolen election”bullshitbefore resigning, not wanting to participate in what could be a criminal conspiracy to defraud Americans.
What a shit show.
