Herschel Walker knows nothing

I do not know if Herschel walker can form a single coherent sentence on any politics, but some of us are more generous than others when it comes to accessing the skills and abilities of the Georgia Republican senatorial candidate.

Speaking to PoliticoBrian Robinson, a Republican consultant in Georgia, said of Walker, “He doesn’t speak in nice syntax, far from it, but, you know, I think his constituents will say quite often what they said to About Trump: “Well, I know what he was trying to say.

Is that why political consultants are paid so well? Robinson’s generosity is almost adorably hilarious. While it pains me to write this, ineloquent and generally dimwitted as Donald Trump is, he is at least an entertainer who can repeat the talking points he consumes hour after hour on conservative TV channels. Being a racist celebrity who heavily tampered with white supremacist habits did wonders for Trump politically.

However, Walker’s performance is far less compelling due to the way the former NFL running back has offered nonsensical answers on a variety of political issues over the past few months.

Take his recent appearance on “Fox & Friends,” where he stumbled upon how to curb mass shootings following the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas that left at least 19 children and two adults dead.

“We need to figure out what happened to him, why, putting money into mental health. Have people thought about it? Walker said, referring to the 18-year-old Uvalde shooter. “We must return to prayer. People now think praying is wrong. No, it’s not bad. We have to pray for things like that. We have to keep going out and fighting, keep taking away your constitutional rights, and I think we can’t do that.

I imagine a lot of people think that the chorus of “Pray” by MC Hammer is the only viable option, but what would Jesus do? Presumably in favor of passing gun safety legislation. However, when co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Walker where he stood on gun control measures such as universal background checks or raising the age to buy assault weapons from 18 at age 21, further verbal stumbles occurred.

“Well, you know, that’s always been a problem, because like I said earlier, they want to score political points… People see it’s a person wielding that gun, you know, Cain killed Abel,” Walker explained. “And that’s the problem we have. And I said, what we need to do is look at how we can stop these things.

He continued, “You talk about doing misinformation, what about having a department that can watch young men watching women, watching their social media? What about doing this, looking at things like this, and we can stop it that way? »

I won’t even pretend to know what this man is referring to, but note that Walker then suggested “putting money into other departments rather than the department that wants to take away your entitlement” not to specify any agency.

I guess that was better than Walker’s earlier response to CNN: “What I like to do is see it and all.”

And to be fair, it’s technically no less stupid than Republican Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy recounting Vice News that we cannot ban assault weapons because people need to kill wild hogs.

“If you talk to the people who own it, kill wild pigs in, whatever, the middle of Louisiana. They will ask themselves: ‘Why would you take it away from me?’ ,” Cassidy explained.

However, in addition to this rambling answer on gun safety, Walker struggled to answer reporters’ questions about the bipartisan infrastructure bill and evolution. On this last question, Walker spoke of the Bible and asserted, “If this is true, why are there still monkeys? Think about it.”

I thought about it, and it’s a testament to Trump’s legacy: dumb, know-nothing men who manage to potentially exploit their fame and various strains of prejudice to neat positions of power.

Walker did not participate in any GOP primary debates and was criticized for it by many of his opponents.

“Herschel Walker is afraid to debate, he skipped five debates. There was an empty podium at every one of them,” GOP U.S. Senate nominee Latham Saddler said during the campaign.

When asked why, Walker told WJCL 22 News“One of the things we have to do is go out and meet people. In a debate, what do you ask, three to four questions? One of the things I’ve done is go around the state of Georgia talking to people, which is why I think I’m in the polls.

Walker won because he’s famous and a famous fanatic revived his campaign. Pleasant as it may be for him, it is embarrassing that Senator Raphael Warnock — to me, one of the most impressive senators to surface in a very long time — has to deal with such a difficult re-election bid against someone so misinformed and misleading and allegedly offensive. Walker’s ex-wife filed for a protective order against him in 2005, claiming he was violent and controlling.

At least Warnock now has the opportunity to further highlight Walker’s lack of knowledge about the job he seeks after challenging Walker to three debates this fall.

“Herschel can’t wait to discuss Raphael Warnock and his unwavering support for Joe Biden’s disastrous policies this fall,” said Walker’s campaign spokesperson, Mallory Blount.

The Walker campaign has not confirmed how many debates he will attend, but apparently he is getting help from people like former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who recently visited him. at his campaign headquarters. Gingrich says the two talked about “everything from being a candidate to being a senator, to thinking about debating Warnock and managing debates.”

Walker’s habit of turning to miserable fanatics for political advice makes it hard to see him as anything more than a GOP prop. Walker would tell you differently, however, claiming to be “angry” with Trump for claiming credit for pushing him toward a Senate candidacy.

“One thing people don’t know is that President Trump never asked me” Walker said in an interview with Killer Mike on Revolt TV. “I have to tell him he never asked. I’ve heard it all on TV “he’s going to ask Herschel”, saying Hershel is going to show up. President Trump never came out and said, “Herschel, do you want to run for that Senate seat?” »

“So I’m mad at him, because he never asked, but he takes credit for asking,” Walker added.

During the 2020 presidential campaign, Walker vaunted of a 37-year “deep personal friendship” with Trump, defended him against allegations of racism and said it “breaks my soul to hear the terrible names people call Donald”. Around the same time and in the months that followed, Trump continuously teased Walker running for the Georgia Senate. Trump doesn’t have to ask for something he publicly pushes; The message is clear.

Walker can now potentially head for the Senate, but if he yearns to prove he knows what a US Senator really does and why he wants to be one now, it’s time for him to figure out how to string the words and the statements by the fall. .

Warnock is the first A black man elected as a senator from Georgia and should not be replaced by a fool intent on wasting space.
