Big real estate lenders have a habit of sticking with politically moderate incumbents who they perceive to be doing a decent job. This year seems no different. Ms. Hochul, the licensee in question, continued to collect donations from owners and developers.

Jerry Speyer, the chairman of Rockefeller Center owner Tishman Speyer, donated $50,000 to Ms. Hochul’s campaign in April. Donald Capoccia, managing director of Brooklyn-based developer BFC Partners, donated $25,000. James L. Dolan, who controls Madison Square Garden — which sits atop Penn Station that Ms. Hochul is renovating — donated $69,700.

“In real estate, you are only as strong as the communities where you do business,” said Rechler, who was one of former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s biggest donors. in a press release. “Governor Hochul recognizes that building stronger communities requires investing in infrastructure, focusing on quality of life and prioritizing public safety.

On a day when gubernatorial candidates faced a deadline to release fundraising information, Mr. Suozzi also opted to make his tax return available to reporters. On both counts, Mr. Suozzi trails the governor.

Mrs. Hochul and her husband, William J. Hochul Jr., reported joint taxable income of $825,000 this year, more than double the combined income of Mr. Suozzi and his wife.

Mr. Hochul, a senior executive with Delaware North, a hotel company and state concessionaire, earned the bulk of the couple’s income: $547,434 from his job in Delaware North. The joint taxable income of $363,494 for Mr. Suozzi and his wife, Helene Suozzi, includes $152,645 in salary — the vast majority coming from Mr. Suozzi’s congressional salary — and $136,339 in capital gains.

The Suozzis have a handful of investments, including a rental office building in Glen Cove, NY, which brought in $18,360 in rental income in 2021, and an investment in a Southampton Day Campwhich brought them $12,677 in passive income.
