Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli, owners of Frankie 457 Spuntino in Brooklyn, plan to open a location in Nashville, their first outside New York.

Mr. Castronovo and Mr. Falcinelli, who became childhood friends in Queens, opened Frankie 457 Spuntino at Carroll Gardens in 2004. In the years since, the owners have capitalized on the simple southern Italian cuisine, expanding this operation with Frank Wine Bar and a slice store called Pizzeria F&F, and dabbling for a while with Germanic dishes at Prime Meats, which is now closed. They also closed their restaurant in Greenwich Village, Frankie 570 Spuntinoto open Anton’s with chef Nick Anderer in the same location.

Their Tennessee location is set to open next January as Frankies Spuntino Nashville. It will be the flagship restaurant of the Laurel & Pine Development in East Nashville, which will have stores, restaurants, offices and hundreds of residential units. Plans for Frankies Spuntino Nashville include event space, an outdoor patio, and retail space with wines, Italian charcuterie, and packaged goods from the restaurant, like olive oil.

“We’ve always tried to create the greatest neighborhood restaurant in America and we hope to bring that vibe to East Nashville,” Mr. Falcinelli said.

The expansion was precipitated by John Burns Paterson, a partner in the restoration group. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1987, Mr Paterson said he always wanted to return to the South and be closer to his family. The partners had long had the idea of opening a restaurant in Nashville, and Mr. Paterson’s move earlier this year made it official.

“It’s not going to be a cut-and-paste from Brooklyn,” Mr. Paterson said. “But we want to take that spirit and bring it here.”
