You feel the need… the need for pie?

An old movie set can help if this is the case. Kelly McGillis’ iconic fictional residence in 1986’s ‘Top Gun’ has been reborn as a pie shop – and opened just weeks before the Friday release of ‘Top Gun: Maverick.” In a nod to the aerial action movie, the restaurant, located in Oceanside, Calif., a military town about a 40-minute drive north of San Diego, is called HIGH-Paste.

“The house is so near and so dear to so many hearts in the local community,” Tara Lazar, owner and chef of HIGH-Pie, told The Post of the 135-year-old Victorian cottage, which is home to her last business of restoration.

Built in 1887, the 500-square-foot property fell into disrepair after the movie, and was later rehabilitated by a historical society and moved from its original address to the Mission Pacific Hotel’s oceanfront courtyard. It is now within sight of the scenic Oceanside Pier, which offers expansive views of blue Pacific waves and the palm-studded coastline.

The process of converting to a bakery, Lazar says, was no small feat.

The pies are $3 each or $5 with ice cream, but the look of the restaurant is just as sweet.

“Besides that converting a historic home into a commercial kitchen is extremely difficult, we wanted to be sensitive to the loyal fans” of the Tom Cruise classic, she said. Thanks to a “dream team”, she believes the end result succeeds “in representing all things American and in honoring the history of the house as well as the patronage of ‘Top Gun’.”

“The revamped interior is adorned with bold retro signage, Victorian-era panels and a padded fireplace, plus fun design touches like photos from the ‘Top Gun’ set, pictures Oceanside’s landmarks” and vintage furniture, details a press release. The house has retained its original blue exterior and now features a service counter with “charcuterie-style display cases and shelves”, as well as an assortment of individual hand pies filled with seasonal compote and presented on a “Willy-Wonka-esque treadmill”. Outside, a vintage scooter sits enthroned, both for aesthetics and for deliveries to nearby hotels.

As for the menu, the pies (which are gluten-free — a serendipitous and unconscious decision, Lazard told the publication Catering Hospitality) costs $3 each, and flavors currently include locally sourced strawberry-rhubarb, among other sweet options.

For an additional $2, a scoop of mascarpone ice cream can be added to the pie, which is then fried, according to the industry news site. Coffee is $1 and there’s also apple kombucha, a special cherry soda, and a $6 iced coffee drink made with condensed milk and beans from Revolution Roasters.
