The Republican Party has found its 2024 party platform, albeit inadvertently.

In the weeks following the 2020 presidential election, the then-president donald trump and a frame of cranks such as Mike Lindel and Sidney Powell falsely claimed that the election was stolen. It was a desperate, half-baked attempt to keep him in power.

Given Trump’s hold on the Republican Party, most GOP lawmakers felt they had little choice and accepted this nonsense. Indeed, to this day, many elected Republicans refuse to recognize Joe Biden legitimately wins the presidency.

One of these self-castrated sycophants is Sen. mike lee of Utah, which, in recently published text messages obtained by CNN, wanted to cancel the 2020 election.

“We need something from the state legislatures to legitimize this and hope to win,” Lee SMS to the then White House Chief of Staff mark the meadows. The senator apparently held out hope that the GOP-controlled legislatures in the states Biden had won would somehow prevent certification of his victory in those states. “Even if they can’t meet, that might be enough if a majority of them are willing to sign a statement saying how they would vote.”

At one point, Lee, who had once posed as a libertarian-leaning, independent Republican, begged Meadows for talking points to back up the patently ridiculous claim that the election had been rigged.

“Please tell me what I should say”, Lee SMS Meadows on November 20, 2020. “I spent 14 hours a day for the last week trying to sort this out for him.”

Please tell me what I should say.

It’s the same Mike Lee who in 2016 mocked against Trump during an interview with Newsmax, slamming him for suggesting Sen. by Ted Cruz father was implicated in the Kennedy assassination. “He said that without a spark, without a spark of proof,” said Lee, who seems concerned about lies that have nothing to do with the election.

The Republican Party did not adopt a party platform in 2020, opting instead to recycle the boards in its 2016 version. Additionally, the Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said his party Won’t do advancing a legislative agenda before the 2022 midterms.

But the GOP is unlikely not to advance a platform in 2024. The good news for Republicans, however, is that Lee’s eight-word text at Meadows sums up their current political philosophy better than a hundred party conventions. never could.
