representing Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is remarkably good at attracting media attention wherever she goes. Over the past few days, she has made headlines for launching baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen in a interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)for speaking at a white nationalist conferencefor claiming she didn’t know she was speaking at a white nationalist conference, and so on.

She is also very good at finding new and offensive ways to evoke nazis or the Holocaust. She has occasionally apologized and claimed she had learned some sort of lesson, but barely a news cycle or two can pass before she is back again and calling out public health officials who promote Covid-19 vaccinations”medical brown shirts.”

by Greene do not great, however, at actually representing the needs of the people of Georgia’s 14th congressional districtthe rural northwest corner of the state nestled in the Appalachian foothills. Census data shows that most residents’ education ended in high school, and the median income is about $10,000 below the national average.

The region’s manufacturing industries, dominated by carpet factories in Dalton, Georgia, have been hit hard by the pandemic, adding to growing pressure from automation and cheaper wages overseas. It’s a long-standing problem: Dalton made headlines in 2012 as a town with the worst job losses in all the countries. The region’s carpet production also results in a pair of major environmental concerns: consumption of a huge quantity of water, more contamination by perfluoroalkyl acid compounds chemical products.

But Greene can’t address any of those issues because she’s not a congressional entity.

Its weird comments and threats got her kicked off all his committee assignments, severely limiting her effectiveness as a legislator. A search of the Congressional Archives finds only 17 tickets with his name listed as a sponsor, including four different resolutions calling for the president’s impeachment Joe Biden (the first of which was filed on January 21, 2021, Biden’s first full day in the White House), a resolution to expel Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) of Congress and another to kick him out of a committee, a bill to award Kyle Rittenhouse the Congressional Gold Medal, the descriptive name “Fire Fauci Act,” and a resolution congratulating the University of Georgia football team on winning a national championship.

None of these became law.

I spotted Greene in the hallway of CPAC on Friday, flanked by several hulking security guards who towered over her small stature. I asked her what she hoped to accomplish for the people in her district.

His answer :

Well, what we’re gonna do is take the house back in 22. Which I did while I’ve been calling votes for a year. This means I registered Congress for the first time in years. Most people don’t know that Congress passes bills only by voice vote.

I commented that the former rep. justin amas (R-MI) had talked a lot about these issues, criticize House leadershipbut since she said nothing about Georgia’s 14th congressional district, I asked again, “But what do you hope to do specifically for the people of your district in Georgia?”

Well, let’s put America first. We will secure our borders, prevent fentanyl from crossing the border. What we’re going to do is try to bring jobs back to America instead of them being overseas. They must be in our country and they must be in my district. And then we will do everything possible to stop this democratic communist program.

At that time, her security took her away. I tried to ask her if she was going to try to return to committees, but I did not get an answer.

Another reporter asked Greene moments later about truckers protesting in Canada, and you can see his response in the last half of the video, in another word salad response. And yes, she says “America First” again.

Greene faces a number of GOP challengers in the primary for this year’s midterm elections. Since this is a resolutely republican region – 75% of voters in the current map of the district voted for the former president donald trump in 2020 – defeating her in the primary is probably the only way to residents of Georgia’s 14th congressional district to obtain a truly effective representative.
