Fox News “Hard News” anchor Sandra Smith took Fox News’ oil industry shilling to 11 when she essentially composed an anti-Biden press release live on air for energy flack Claire Chase.

President Joe Biden and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki got used to spank oil industry talking points – often fed by the Fox News White House correspondent Pierre Doocy — like these three women slammed around Kurt Russell at the end of Proof of death.

PSAKI, in particular, likes to point out the over 9,000 unused oil licenses that have already been approved and tell reporters like Doocy to go ahead and ask oil companies why they aren’t drilling.

And that’s how Chase ended up becoming a guest in Tuesday’s edition of Fox News’ America Reportswhere Smith played clips of Psaki and Biden, then steered the oil flack through his talking points like a sherpa with a GPS and Mapquest printout, just in case.

Now, much of what happened in this segment is a matter of taste — whether you’re inclined to be generous about Fox’s alleged split between “hard news” and “opinions,” or whether you don’t care about a little light shilling, that was pretty standard stuff.

The oil flack gave some pretty terrible answers that basically boiled down to, “How can we drill if there’s going to be, like, no poisoning rules and like, fines and stuff if we break them?” How is that even fair?

Don’t take my word for it, watch the full thing. Like Smith’s intro for Chase, which included his company name and his family’s vast oil claims in New Mexico — but didn’t include the fact that Chase was a Republican. candidate for Congress who got their ass kicked in the primary. Imagine if CNN had failed to identify a Democrat. Greg Gutfeld and jesse watters would have a baby live on the set of The five.

She told Smith that “there’s no reason then for us to really want to speed up in a political environment that’s going to try to turn around and shut us down or find us a million, you know, people.” millions and millions of dollars.

Or, and just listen to me, they might like do not break the law or stop poisoning the environment.

What really earned Smith a chef’s kiss was when she deftly composed an oil industry press release that Chase only had to verbally sign:

MRS. SMITH: Let me end with this point, because one day in the briefing room, Jen Psaki, as she was touting these 9,000 untapped leases, she said, back to one of our reporters , call them, ask them why they’re not typing. Is it fair, based on everything you’ve just told us, to say that the reason you’re sitting on these leases and not mining them, even though oil looks very profitable to you at $130 barrel is because there is too much risk involved and uncertainty under this administration? Is it right?

MRS. CHASE: It’s just one hundred percent. I think we really need to know that once we start drilling for oil, we can continue to produce it without being fined or having new rules and regulations imposed on us. Yes, we really do an incredible job of protecting the environment and protecting the air and water. And it is much better than anywhere else in the world. So why we don’t rely on American energy is really beyond me.

I know what you’re thinking, maybe Chase deserves credit for saying, in the same breath, that they can’t risk a death fine for poisoning the Earth, and that’s why they don’t won’t drill even if they’re the best at not poisoning the Earth, and there’s merit in that.

But Chase does not claim to be a “hard news” anchor on a “real” “news” network.
