I am writing to clear up the confusion surrounding the authorship of a recent column published in the Gazette entitled: “In these times, we need more civility, less ‘craw-clearing'”.
This column was written by my namesake, Jim Ayres of Amherst. While Jim and I share a name and county of residence, the similarities seem to end there. We do not share opinions related to vaccines, or what constitutes “facts”.
Those who know me through my work with United Way of Hampshire County, Center for New Americans and Community Foundation of Western MA, will not be surprised that I remain pro-vax, pro-facts and grateful to all my friends in the public sector. for using science awareness and advocacy to end this destructive and unnecessarily prolonged pandemic.
While I respect Jim for sharing his thoughts and beliefs, I don’t want them to be confused with mine. This Jim Ayres is the President and CEO of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation and divides his time between Haydenville and Worcester.
