At halftime in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game, Kansas City led the Cincinnati Bengals, 21-10. For the Bengals to win, they would have to make some adjustments.

But those who hope listen to some analyzes at halftime on the CBS show were unlikely to hear any comments. It was almost inaudible.

As the “NFL on CBS” team, consisting of James Brown, Boomer Esiason, Phil Simms, Bill Cowher and Nate Burleson, broke down the first half plays, country music singer Walker Hayes played the show from the halftime at Arrowhead Stadium.

Mr. Hayes’ music was so loud it nearly drowned out the halftime analysis.

When Mr. Burleson explained the changes the Bengals needed to make, the music was so loud that his colleague next to him, Mr. Esiason, couldn’t help but laugh.

“I have no idea what you just said,” Mr Esiason said after Mr Burleson finished his comments. “I can’t hear anything anyone said.”

The indistinguishable comment quickly gained attention online, with clips garnering tens of thousands of views on Twitter.

ESPN commentator Sarah Spain said on Twitter that she didn’t hear a word of the halftime broadcast.

“Ow, don’t think CBS realized how disruptive Walker Hayes’ halftime show would be during *their* halftime show,” she wrote.

Dallas sports radio host Craig Miller said on Twitter that the “halftime audio disaster” was “very entertaining”.

CBS did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday night.

In a spectacular end of extra time, the Bengals beat Kansas City, 27-24, with a winning placement that will take them to the Super Bowl to face the Los Angeles Rams. Fortunately, for the “NFL on CBS” team and those watching at home, there was no live musical performance to interrupt any post-game analysis.
