A year after shelling out $9.8 million for a new family home in upstate New York, Richard Gere is trying to get rid of his other upstate property he bought in 1986 .
The ‘Pretty Woman’ actor, 72, put his sprawling 48-acre resort in Pound Ridge up for sale for a whopping $28 million in October.
Nearly 35 years ago, he purchased the land for just $1.51 million, property records reveal.
Known for his starring roles in ‘Pretty Woman’ and ‘American Gigolo’, Gere hopes to start over at a seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom abode in North Salem after fostering children in 2019 and 2020 with his wife, Alejandra Silva.
The main residence at the Pound Ridge resort – just an hour from New York City – is made up of eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms and spans over 11,600 square feet.
Consisting of five buildings in total, with stables and a swimming pool, the estate is blessed with 4,300 acres of protected land.
Billed as a “magical country resort,” the property features a winding country lane as you wind your way through the grounds and includes a private lake with a sandy beach and a separate island for rowing, according to the listing.
Other features include aesthetic views of the hills (only for horseback riding), a hidden football pitch, and several mature plantings that surround the compound.
After buying his new Colonial home last year, he dropped an additional $700,000 on a nearby vacant lot, which expanded the property to around 35 acres.
Manage married spanish publicist and political activist Silva, 37, in 2018.
He also has a 21-year-old son, Homer, from his ex-wife Carey Lowell.
