The Washington Post got fired on Twitter, including by Jen psaki – on a strange post suggesting the president Joe biden is kind of a heartache junkie who gets put down for spending too much time at the funeral, or something.

On Friday night, the Post ran a item through Annie linskey – Who once tweeted a photo of Biden visiting his family’s graves with the caption “Biden attends church and walks through cemetery in Wilmington as his legislative agenda dies in Washington” – titled “Biden, funerals and a bygone America”.

It was a deeply bizarre deep dive into Biden’s funeral habits that tied to his presence at the former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s funeral this weekend. The gist of the article is that Mr Biden shows deep concern for his grieving friends and colleagues, but he sees these qualities as alien and slightly implies that they have a downside.

“If a president’s most precious resource is his time, he has made a point of setting aside hours to mourn, console and mark the friendships he made during his public mandate as about half a century, “writes Linskey, after counting some of the many hours Biden spent on the dead -” while ruling the country. “

Linskey also wrote this odd line describing the heartbreak as a contest between the President and First Lady Dr. Jill biden: “Biden’s ability to lengthen his schedule to adapt to events sometimes exceeds that of his wife. “

The article is just strange, tense to a point that he doesn’t quite have the courage to make because the alternative would be simply to point out that Biden is a deeply empathetic and considerate man.

But the Post’s Twitter account made it more specific, tweeting “Biden, who visits the memorial to Senator Harry M. Reid on Saturday – his seventh as president – is using the funeral to honor his friendships and promote bipartisanship. “

They added, “Not everyone thinks this is the best use of their time.”

Not a single quote in the article suggests it, a fact for which the Post has rightly been denounced by media figures and other Twitter users, including White Houe’s press secretary Jen Psaki. .

“I’ll be waiting here for the apparent growing chorus referenced here that opposes (rightly opposed according to this tweet) a @POTUS that honors the lives of those who are lost, with empathy and grace,” Psaki wrote. .

Others joined us, including a few journalists trying to defend the article while denouncing the tweet:

As of this writing, the tweet is still live.
