When Daniel Khaytman and Angela Ratmansky were both 8 years old, their parents moved into houses on the same street in Miami. A friendship almost immediately followed when the two, who also come from Russian families, started attending the same primary school and taking the same bus.

“Daniel has always been a constant friend to me,” Ms. Ratmansky said.

Shortly after they met, when they were both in fifth grade, Ms Ratmansky said that she asked Mr Khaytman which girls he liked in their class.

“He said his name begins with an ‘a’ and ends with an ‘a’,” Ms. Ratmansky recalls. “I was sitting there thinking about all these names – Amanda, Anna – not realizing my name was Angela.”

Although Mr Khaytman told Ms Ratmansky, both now 26, that he had a crush on her later that same day, they never spoke about it again. Ms Ratmansky said she developed a crush on Mr Khaytman while the two were still in elementary school, but by then he only considered her a friend.

Their relationship remained platonic throughout middle and high school, after which Ms. Ratmansky and Mr. Khaytman, along with some of their friends, enrolled at the University of Central Florida and decided to share an off-campus home. .

Moving in together, Ms Ratmansky said, has led the couple to come even closer.

“I knew I wanted to marry Daniel in his freshman year in college,” Ms. Ratmansky said, “even though we weren’t together.” She added, “It’s a connection I couldn’t explain and whatever I do, I’ve always wanted to get it involved.”

Mr Khaytman said he experienced a similar achievement a few years later, as the two studied together in a campus library during their senior year of college, and asked Ms Ratmansky to be his little one. friend at that time.

“Something hit me on the head and said, ‘Look, what are you doing? You have feelings for her, it looks like it’s pretty obvious she has feelings for you, why are you playing this game and going back and forth? ‘ Mr. Khaytman remembered thinking.

Before he could even finish the question, Ms. Ratmansky said “yes”. But soon after the start of their married life, the distance will force them to separate.

After graduating from college in 2017, Mr. Khaytman, who received a bachelor’s degree in health science, moved to Orlando, Florida to attend the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, where he is completing a doctorate. in pharmacy. Ms Ratmansky, who also earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences, returned to Miami.

To face the distance they decided to start a blog about beauty and skin care so that they have something to bring them together while living apart. In July 2019, after a few months of blogging, Ms. Ratmansky moved in with Mr. Khaytman in Orlando and they started a Youtube channel, where the couple post videos of themselves taking on challenges on social media and short skits.

Later that year, the couple performed their roles on TikTok, opening an account which Mr. Khaytman would later use to share videos in which he asked viewers how he should propose to Ms. Ratmansky.

“There were people invested in history,” Ms. Ratmansky said. “It was the cutest thing ever, he was like ‘OK guys I have the ring I need some ideas, what am I doing?'”

A proposal arrived on December 31, 2020, at a pirate-themed escape room in Miami. When Mr. Khaytman asked Mrs. Ratmansky to marry him, she replied, “Obviously. The following May, Ms. Ratmansky enrolled at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where she was studying nursing.

The couple tied the knot on December 17 at the Crystal Ballroom, an event venue in Lake Mary, Florida. Joshua Goodridge, a friend of theirs who has been ordained for the occasion by American Marriage Ministries, officiated at the ceremony in front of about five dozen guests, all of whom were vaccinated and asked to show negative results. Covid test before attending.

“I just knew it was meant to be,” the bride said. “All the things that we have experienced in our lives have led us to this moment.”
