Welcome. The first week after daylight saving time ends is always a bit confusing, isn’t it? The days seem shortened, it’s always dinner time again.

This weekend, the shorter days will start to feel more comfortable. Get comfortable. Try one of the new black and white films that our reviewers recommend: “Who passed,” “an anguished story of identity and belonging” adapted by Rebecca Hall from the 1929 novel by Nella Larsen, or Kenneth Branagh “Belfast” a “cinematographic memory” of his childhood in Northern Ireland. (“Skip” is activated Netflix; “Belfast” is only in theaters.)

“Yellow jackets,” about a women’s soccer team whose plane crashes into the Canadian wilderness on its way to a tournament, first Show time on Sunday. I will definitely be listening to “a simmering synthesis of folk horror, survival story and mystery of yesterday and today.”

If you get firmer vacation trip, I sincerely hope that you do not spend 275 minutes – or, really, any minute – on hold with airline customer service this weekend. Better to consider Padma Lakshmi Slow Roasted Turkey Recipe, or gather ingredients for some of our vegetarian accompaniments. Eric Asimov will help you select wines for the party.

Are you looking forward to the holidays? Dread them? Watch them approach with indifference? Tell us: athome@nytimes.com. Make sure to include your full name and location and we may include your response in a future newsletter. Were At home and away. We will read every letter sent. As always, you’ll find more ideas for passing the time below. Enjoy the weekend.
