Wednesday, CNN New day co-host Brianna Keilar delivered a bad faith and out of context attack on Nikki haley, former president Donald trumpambassador to the United Nations and is a possible candidate for the presidency in 2024.

The night before, Haley gave a phenomenal speech about how American history rhymes and current events mimicked the pre-Reagan era in which America was weak and hated at home and abroad.

I recommend watching or reading the speech in its entirety.

“Much of our people are plagued with self-doubt or even hatred of America,” Haley said, in a clip aired on New day. “It is a much more damaging pandemic than any virus.”

Keilar said “the former UN ambassador does not let more than 700,000 deaths and Covid counts hinder the minimization of a politicized pandemic by the administration she served because she suggests the liberals hate America and that the country has no anti-racism agenda, as she recounted growing up in the South.

Haley hasn’t played down the coronavirus. The virus is serious business. Haley’s point was that, comparatively, the hatred for America that has been fanned abroad and at home could have even more devastating consequences – with this domestic hatred bubbling up especially in academia, media, business. and the government.

One example Haley mentioned of America’s domestic hatred is the teaching of Critical Race Theory, which teaches that American law and institutions are inherently racist and therefore racism is institutional rather than perpetrated by individuals. people.

While the impact of the pandemic has been undoubtedly devastating, its societal effects will eventually abate – especially with a vaccine being developed in record time. America’s hatred or self-doubt, on the other hand, of the coronavirus pandemic has far longer-term consequences on the American psyche. When hatred becomes widespread, it can take years for this damage to be repaired. It has taken hundreds of years for America to no longer be systematically racist when the pandemics of the past were far less so.

Side note: Speaking of polarization, it was not only the Trump administration, but also the Biden administration that politicized the pandemic, with the former downplaying the virus from the start, the latter being beholden to teachers’ unions by opposition to science regarding masks in schools.

The segment then aired a clip of Haley saying in her speech, “And trust me, South Carolina’s first woman and minority governor. . . America is not a racist country. This was followed by a sound clip of Haley saying, “As a dark-haired girl growing up in a small town in the south, I saw America’s promise unfold before me.”

The segment then showed a sound clip of Haley, in a May 2018 interview with CBS, talking about growing up in a Sikh family in South Carolina, where people judged them because she and her family were different.

Keilar criticized Haley for saying that “systemic racism” no longer exists in America and, playing clips, quoted her as reversing her position on the Confederate flag being on state land. Keilar gave Haley credit for it.

Keilar then said:

In last night’s speech, the former governor who removed the Confederate flag from State House grounds for the symbol to be waved inside the United States Capitol by rioters last January , has whitewashed the ups and downs of the American experience with racism and challenges yet to come, all seemingly to appeal to the conservative base.

Keilar did not release the clip of Haley saying in her speech, “We must not be ashamed of American history. We should say it everywhere we go. We know some of them are hard to hear. The founders were not saints. They lived in a time when slavery was legal and women’s rights were an afterthought. We do not need to find excuses for these obvious injustices. Looks like Haley has whitewashed America’s past.

And, in her speech, Haley did not whitewash the challenges America still faces, with America’s hatred at home and abroad being one example. Haley also mentioned other policy issues: “Rising inflation. Uncontrollable federal spending and debt. Creeping crime in our cities. Radical leftists run our universities. Radical Islamists are holding Americans hostage. An evil communist empire that is aggressively expanding its influence around the world.

Keilar, as do many of his peers in the mainstream media, ignorantly referred to all of Trump’s supporters as extremists – as if the people on Capitol Hill on January 6 represented the whole party. This label is no different from that of the right which labels all Democrats and people on the left as extremists given the riots last summer.

The Keilar attack wasn’t the only time CNN has taken on Haley in recent times. In August, presenter Jake Tapper attacked her dishonestly to criticize the disastrous policies of the Biden administration in Afghanistan. It is starting to become a model for the network.

While it’s fair to condemn Haley to go back and forth about Trump future role in the GOP and if she would run if he did run in 2024, Haley has throughout her career called balls and slaps. While his stance on Trump has undoubtedly evolved, Haley has nuanced that while Trump’s conduct through January 6 should be condemned, his policies can be commended. It should be noted that in this same the Wall Street newspaper maintenance, where she made those reversals, she rejected Trump’s “Big Lie” that the election was stolen from him.

But Keilar doesn’t care about the nuance. She shows it by grouping Haley and all of the Trump supporters together with the man himself. Haley, on the other hand, Is worry about the nuance. She has been serious conservative, speaking in measured tones and offering solutions to problems, rather than just empty rants. Haley is a curator. intelligence, empathy and charisma. This is precisely why you saw CNN chasing her so hard. And that is why they will continue to do so.
