Rudy Giuliani banned from Fox News? Not exactly

If a cable information network chooses not to book an individual as a guest, is that a prohibition? Of course not. But what if this person has been a frequent guest for the past two decades? Well, it’s kind of a gray area. If this individual has somehow lost his marbles, and this reservation would attract fair mockery? Then the term “ban” may have more meaning, but is no longer true.

All this is a pretext for a breathless Politico report who came out on Friday who claims the former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani, and personal lawyer of the former president Donald trump was “banned” from Fox News. While it’s true that Giuliani hasn’t been on Fox for months now, calling it a “ban” isn’t entirely correct either.

A source familiar with Fox News editorial reservations has dismissed the report, and one would assume their decision was based on the discounted value of the news Giuliani is currently presenting. You could also sense that, had Giuliani not fallen off the rails of reality and reason, his appearances on the cable news network would likely have continued.

Write for the Political Playbook, Tara Palmeri reports:

RUDY GETS THE GONG – RUDY GIULIANI was banned from Fox News for almost three months. As if the injection was not painful enough, the “mayor of September 11” learned of his ban… the day before September 11.

Giuliani was to appear on “Fox & Friends” to mark the 20th anniversary of the attack. But the day before, host PETE HEGSETH called Giuliani to tell him he was kicked out of the show and to apologize.

The source familiar with the events reported above returned to the “ban” and also insists that Giuliani was never booked for September 11th.

Palmeri reports ban ‘comes from above’ and extends to Giuliani’s son AndrĂ© – currently in the midst of a long-term bid for the governor of New York. This ignores the fact that Andrew has been on Fox News four times in the past few months.

There is no doubt that the Politico article is a fun read, filled with schadenfreude and karmic understanding for a guy who has openly admitted to lying on the air and perniciously claimed that the 2020 election was stolen, never presenting reasonable evidence in court. But that’s not quite right. It’s not bad either.

If anyone was anxious to be booked on Fox, disclosing that they had been banned is a decent tactic to get back on air. Fox News likes to prove that the reports on their internal activities are wrong. Take for example the CEO extension Suzanne Scott’s Contract days after she was in error reported by The Daily Beast that his work was “in danger”.

But no one currently wants anything to do with Giuliani, not even on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. And it’s not just Fox News, but almost every other media outlet that covered that day extensively and chose not to have it on the air.

The other observation, quite obvious here, is the following. What if Fox News were to book Rudy Giuliani after all the crazy, baseless bullshit he has been churning out about the 2020 general election? They would be raked over the embers, and appropriately. Giuliani is just too toxic a guest right now, even for Fox News.

Giuliani fell so far from grace that he rose from mayor of America to record personalized videos on Cameo. If he wasn’t so blatantly mean, that would be sad. This is however not the case.
