Come as you are in this piece of rock ‘n’ roll history.

Kurt Cobain’s childhood home in Washington state has been unanimously approved by the Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation to be a monument.

Now considered historically significant, the modest 1,500 square foot house where the late rocker grew up is slated to become an exhibit.

Fans will be able to travel back in time to see the house where the iconic rock star grew up – experience the house as it was left when he lived there.

Cobain lived in the one-and-a-half-storey house in Aberdeen from 1968 to 1984.

Lee Bacon – who currently owns the house – revealed to Rolling stone that his plans are “90-95% complete” to recreate the house and restore it to its original condition.

Neighborhood zoning regulations will prevent the residence from becoming a full-time museum, but Bacon is exploring ways to open the house this spring for an occasional private visit.

“Our goal is to make the house a tribute project to Kurt’s youth and career, with museum details,” he told the magazine. “The next chapter is how to get there. “

Bacon and his wife Danielle bought the Cobain family home in 2018 for $ 225,000.

Cobain’s sister, Kim Cobain, also has her say in the exhibit.

“I like to be involved and give my opinion. I am very happy and I support that Lee and Dani accepted this three years ago, ”she added.

A plaque for the front of the house is also in the works, which Bacon says will be especially important as time moves away from Nirvana’s stardom and Cobain’s death in 1994.

“We have to write it for someone in the future, 20 years from now, who wants to know more about Kurt,” Bacon says. “We want it to be for someone who doesn’t know who he was or the contributions he made.”

Cobain, who was married to Courtney Love, committed suicide on April 5, 1994. A high concentration of heroin and traces of diazepam were also found in his body at the time.
