Piers has encouraged debate about the potential move by responding to one claim that he was at the centre of a £10million bidding war.

Last week, a TV insider claimed the GMB star could be poached by the new broadcaster or media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

They said: “It seems everything he touches turns to gold.”

The source told the Daily Mirror that Mr Murdoch eyed-up Piers as a host for Fox News, in the US, or the new venture News UK TV.

They claimed some of the offers had “hit the £10million mark” and he “may be able to land exactly what he wants”.

When reports about Piers’ potential move emerged, he retweeted one of the stories and quipped: “Only 10?”

The TV star left GMB after weatherman Alex Beresford called him “diabolical” for criticising Meghan Markle’s mental health claims during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers is yet to reveal where his future lies but Andrew has made it clear there would be a spot for him on GB News.

JUST IN: Piers Morgan claimed editors should be like Andrew Neil: ‘Opinionated’

“Editors should be like him – loud, opinionated, not afraid to get on TV and defend their papers and their stories.

“And he sets the agenda all the time.”

The TV stars also regularly exchanged banter on Twitter and once Andrew praised Piers for not being listed on the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.

In 2013, he tweeted: “It’s only to your credit. Do you see the sort of people who get them?”

While serving as the editor of the Daily Mirror, Piers went onto a live broadcast of Andrew’s political show This Week on the BBC.

But unfortunately, the star’s rant lasted shorter than he expected after he was suddenly cut from the show.

Piers wrote: “I got five seconds into my ‘The trouble with Tony Blair is…’ speech when there was a huge explosion and all the power cut-out.”

The star felt awkward during that moment as he impatiently waited for the show to return to air.

He explained: “I sat there… laughing nervously and wondering what the hell was going to happen next.

“The answer was nothing.”

While Piers hoped to return to his TV rant about the former Prime Minister, the BBC team “couldn’t get the power back on”.

He claimed “the whole of Westminster had gone down” and due to the episode being live “that was it for the night”.

After the drama came to an end, Piers called his mother who he “knew was watching at home”.

He wanted to “reassure her” that they “hadn’t been terminated by al-Qaeda” but was surprised by her disinterest.

Piers recalled: “She said they were running Dr Finlay’s Casebook now, which she likes anyway, so not to worry.”

It seems clear that Piers has admired Andrew for a long time, which was best-highlighted in his remark that all “editors should be like him”.

Piers forged a TV career of his own, following editor roles at the News Of The World and the Daily Mirror.

He described Andrew as “loud, opinionated and unafraid”, which are words often used to describe Piers.

While the star could be an easy fit for GB News, reports claim Piers is still in discussions with multiple broadcasters.

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories stars Coleen Nolan tonight and airs at 9pm on ITV.

Piers Morgan’s book The Insider: The Private Diaries Of A Scandalous Decade was published by Ebury Press in 2005. It is available here
