Los Angeles Rams quarterback John Wolford, who got the start Saturday in place of Jared Goff, left Lumen Field in an ambulance during an NFC Wild Card round matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Not even 10 minutes into the game and with the Rams leading 3-0, Wolford took a first-and-10 snap and dove after a designed quarterback run. Seahawks safety Jamal Adams’ shoulder collided with Wolford’s helmet as the quarterback went to the ground, and a dazed Wolford stayed down following the play. He was able to walk off the field under his own power but appeared discomforted while walking toward the locker room.

The Rams said he was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Later in the game, the Rams got more bad news when perennial all-pro Aaron Donald was determined to be questionable to return with what the Rams called a ribs injury.

Donald was in visible pain on the field, clutching at his ribs, before he headed to the locker room in the third quarter. He returned to the sidelines though was seen returning to the locker room at the conclusion of the third quarter. He eventually returned back to the sidelines but never got back into the game.

Wolford, who played for the Arizona Hotshots in the Alliance of American Football, had backed up Goff all season until Week 17, when the starter underwent thumb surgery. Wolford led the Rams to a victory over the Arizona Cardinals to clinch a playoff berth.

Goff completed 9-of-19 passes for 155 yards as the Rams – buoyed by a stellar defensive performance and a great game from RB Cam Akers – beat the division-rival Seahawks, 30-20. Wolford finished 3-for-6 with 29 yards through the air.

The 29-year-old Donald, a two-time defensive player of the year, picked up his sixth straight all-pro nod this season.
