Post mortems on the young mum and her two little children found dead in the family home will be completed on Friday.

Tragic Seema Banu, 37, her daughter Asfira Riza, 11, and son Faizan Syed, 6, were discovered in the house in Llewellyn Court, Ballinteer, South Dublin at lunchtime on Wednesday.

Detectives believe all three were strangled, but the post mortems will confirm cause of death later on Friday. Their bodies were there for several days, sources said.

Dr Heidi Okkers, assistant state pathologist, was carrying out the grim task on the three family members on Thursday.

Garda investigations into the suspected triple murder are continuing as neighbours in a quiet residential street come to terms with the horrific details surrounding the deaths.

Little Faizan and his sister Asfira Riza will be “greatly missed”, their school said in a moving tribute to the children.

Faizan was in first class and Asfira was in sixth class at Ballinteer Educate Together national school.

Principal Orlaith Curran said: “This is a terrible tragedy for their family, our school and our community.

“We are deeply saddened by these devastating events.

“Our sympathy and thoughts are with the children’s family and friends.

“They will both be missed by all who knew them.”

Ms Curran said offers of support had been “pouring in.”

Psychologists have met with staff ahead of the return of pupils next week following the Halloween mid-term break.

At around 11.30am on Wednesday, Gardai from the Armed Support Unit discovered Seema upstairs in a bedroom with a ligature reportedly around her neck. Her children were found dead in another room.

All three showed signs of strangulation, sources said.

Taps had been left on in a bathroom to flood the house. There was damage to floors and water was seeping out through a door. The alarm was raised by neighbours who hadn’t seen them for days.

Seema’s husband and the children’s father Sameer Syed, 36, was not at home when Gardai made the grim discovery. He was later located.

The Educate Together national office said it was “shocked and saddened” by the “awful tragedy.”

It added: “Words fall short of expressing the shock and profound sadness many are feeling when thinking about the children and family affected.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and classmates of the bereaved.”

Neighbours in Llewellyn Court, raised the alarm after the family, originally from India, had not been seen for several days.

India’s ambassador to Ireland Sandeep Kumar laid flowers at the scene on Thursday.

He told reporters he has been in touch with Seema’s family in India.

Mr Kumar said: “It’s shocking the way they were discovered.

“We are in touch with the Garda to offer any kind of support.

“We were given the numbers by the Garda of the brother of Seema Banu and the mother of Seema Banu last evening.

“We phoned them about this incident and put them in touch with the Garda.”

He added: “We have offered the family of Seema Banu full support from the embassy and we shall continue to be in touch with them.

“Like any other family it’s been tragic for them, we fully empathize with them and offer them our deepest and heartfelt condolences and may their gentle souls rest in peace.”

On Wednesday night, gardai had made contact with the husband Sameer, who is in Ireland on a work visa.

Both Seema and Sameer had been settled in Ireland for some time.

Supt Paul Reidy, from Blackrock Garda station, gave a brief press conference near the house on Wednesday.

He said: “The scene has been preserved. We’re treating the deaths as unexplained at the moment.

“The results of the post mortems will determine the course of our investigation.”
