The Recorder - Zoning safeguard taken away

I understand that neighboring towns require a special permit in building a second detached home on the same lot. Among other things, the special permit allows neighbors who might be negatively affected to make their case against such a building.

For some reason this zoning safeguard is done away with by our Greenfield Council. I wonder why. The potential for abuse is there for anyone willing to take advantage of it.

As a neighbor you might find the value of your home dramatically diminished due to a poorly planned second structure next door close to your property line.

As it stands now it appears that you have no legal recourse or say within the framework of allowing such a permit to be approved.

This does not seem fair.
