Trump Attacks Mail-In Vote, Calls 2020 Election 'Disaster'

President Donald Trump made an ominous prediction as he raged against mail-in voting Friday afternoon during a Q&A with reporters. Trump declared, “this is going to be the greatest election disaster in history.”

“The media knows this,” Trump said when railing against the differences between mail-in voting and absentee ballots. “Actually, The Washington Post wrote a great article, of all groups. A week ago, The Washington Post wrote a great article that this is a disaster. This is going to be the greatest election disaster in history.”

“And by the way, you guys like to talk about Russia and China and other places, they’ll be able to forge ballots,” Trump continued. “They will forge them, do whatever they have to do. People should go and they should vote, or do an absentee ballot.”

Mail voting has been one of Trump’s common attacks in the last couple of weeks on Twitter, saying it’ll be a “disaster” and a “rigged election” several times over. On Thursday morning, Trump used his attacks to suggest he may delay the election — an action he has no control over. He attempted to walk back on his claim Thursday afternoon, but still called mail-in voting “dangerous” in a tweet.

“Absentee ballots are secure and they are very good, but universal mail-in ballots are a disaster,” Trump continued on Friday afternoon. “You’re going to see an election – and we are going to do very well in the election. Nobody wants that date more than me. I wish we would move it up. Move it up.”
