Justice Thomas’s Question Time - WSJ

The Supreme Court heard oral argument by telephone for the first time Monday, with a real-time audio feed carried by C-Span. Almost as unprecedented: About seven minutes in, Justice Clarence Thomas piped up with “a couple of questions.”

Justice Thomas’s habit is to let his colleagues make the inquiries. He once went 10 years without posing a question at oral argument. Justice Thomas said in 2013 that Supreme Court advocates “get pummeled” these days: “I think we should listen to lawyers who are arguing their case.”
