Trevor Noah analyzes Trump the SOTU showman in Best of Late Night

Tuesday night’s State of the Union address was about 80 minutes of show with only a pinch of substance surrounded by rising tensions over ongoing impeachment proceedings. And it might be the last that President Donald Trump ever gives.

After Trump awarded conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh a Presidential Medal of Freedom, re-united a service member with his family and gave a young woman a scholarship, Trevor Noah, host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” expected Trump the showman to give his television audience one more surprise. Take a look at today’s Best of Late Night, above, to find out how Noah’s expectations were dashed. Hint: The anticipated moment involved Hillary Clinton.

House Speak Nancy Pelosi was not short on surprises.

Some were shocked when the woman who led the impeachment fight against Trump reached out to shake the president’s hand. Others may have been surprised when Trump dismissed the attempt. And the kicker surprise came when Pelosi ripped up the president’s speech on live television. Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert put all three moments in perspective.
