Jordan Burch re-affirms South Carolina choice

The nation’s No. 2 prospect is close to making his college decision officially … official.

But it’s not quite a done deal yet.

Jordan Burch, who committed to his hometown South Carolina in December but not did not sign, continued to receive heavy interest from national champion LSU, among others.

It appears he wasn’t swayed enough, though.

Burch, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound pass-rusher from Columbia, South Carolina, re-affirmed his commitment to the Gamecocks on Wednesday.

However, the school has yet to announce his signing, though, leaving a sliver of intrigue in this high-profile recruitment.

“We obviously have one left,” South Carolina coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday, according to a report by The State.

It had been expected Burch, a five-star defensive end who is ranked No. 2 in the final USA TODAY Chosen 25 for the 2020 class, would sign with Clemson before his December decision to South Carolina.

But Burch explained his decision was based on his comfort with Muschamp’s program.

“Every visit I took it felt like a home visit,” Burch said in November. “I love the coaching staff. I love the people there. It’s in town. I don’t think I could’ve made a better decision.”

Jordan Burch stuck with his hometown school on National Signing Day, sticking with his commitment to South Carolina.

“For the next three or four years, I’ll be with my friends,” Burch said on Wednesday as his signing ceremony.

Burch headlines a top-20 South Carolina recruiting class.

“This has been a wild ride,” Burch said.
