Dancing on Ice 2020: John Barrowman reveals he's staying on for 2021 | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Dancing on Ice contestant-turned-judge John Barrowman has been speaking about his time on the latest series of the ITV reality show. The former Torchwood star says he’s enjoying himself so much, he has confirmed he will return to the panel next year, saying, “I’m loving it!”

But while controversy blights the skating rink, there does appear to be harmony amongst the competition’s judging panel.

Long-running Dancing on Ice judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Ashely Banjo were joined by a new face for this season.

Actor and performer John Barrowman replaced Jason Gardiner and the Doctor Who star has spoken about his time on the show.

In an interview with The Sun, John confirmed he will return to the judging panel in 2021.

John admitted it will be “hard” for the judges to pick between decent skaters, adding: “All the skaters who weren’t up to their par have all gone so now… it’s a different competition now, so it’s going to be hard for us as judges.”

During the interview, John also spoke about the high-profile split between Caprice and Hamish.

Caprice was then paired with skater Oscar Peter but the pair only had one performance together before she left the show of her own accord.

In a diplomatic response, John said: “We’ve had a divorce in the family and the divorce, like any family has, I don’t take sides.

“I’m friends with both of them and I’m skating with Hamish at the moment.”

However, John did admit he hasn’t spoken with Caprice recently, adding: “I think she’s still working things out, I just hope that they both get back to their own normal selves. That’s what we want.”

When asked what caused the acrimonious division, John offered a straightforward reason: “They just didn’t get on, that was it.”

Dancing on Ice continues on ITV this Sunday at 6pm.
