The New York Times recommends these New England ski mountains

Two Vermont ski resorts are ideal places to ski and snowboard during the holiday season, according to The New York Times.

Killington and Sugarbush ski resorts are excellent places to ski and snowboard around the holidays because of their extensive snow-making capabilities, the publication wrote in a recent article about when and where to go skiing.

There’s more good news for Vermont-bound skiers and snowboarders, according to the Times. The following three resorts are “good bets throughout the season” due to their natural snowfall: Jay Peak, Stowe, and Smugglers’ Notch.

For springtime skiing, the Times recommends Sugarloaf and Sunday River, both in Maine, as well as Pico Mountain in Vermont, due to factors such as elevation, latitude, and the direction of the slopes. Higher altitudes, according to the publication, mean less rain and colder temperatures that preserve the snow.

“The best mountains for spring skiing have good amounts of north-facing terrain, which keeps snow shaded and cold,” the Times wrote.
