The Chase: Anne Hegerty spills details on secret Chase project | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The Chase quizzers have a huge following from both the ITV show and online for their incredible general knowledge.

In recent weeks there have been rumours of a spin-off show which would see contestants go up against Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha and Shaun Wallace.

The spin-off was reported to called Are You Smarter Than A Chaser? but now Anne has addressed the speculation and teased details of a secret project.

She appeared on The Jeremy Vine Show this morning and talk quickly turned to the popular game show.

Host Jeremy remarked: “I saw Anne that you might do this spin-off, Are You Smarter Than A Chaser?”

“I saw that story too,” Anne replied. “Yes that’s got garbled.

“There are no plans to make a show called Are You Smarter Than A Chaser? and the term chaser is owned by Potato Productions who makes The Chase.”

But while the spin-off show won’t be hitting television screens anytime soon, Anne did tease details of another series.

“Three of the chasers are in the process of making a documentary series about intelligence and about how different kinds of intelligence compare to each other,” she divulged.

“I will tell you that, I’m not allowed to tell you more.”

Excited, Jeremy asked: “Okay and are you one of the people doing that?”

“I am one of the people doing that. It’s absolutely manic,” Anne exclaimed.

Details of Anne’s latest project come after co-star Mark Labbett revealed he has ruled out appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Appearing on Loose Women yesterday, the 54-year-old explained why he wouldn’t follow in the footsteps of Anne, who starred in the 2019 series.

“I can categorically confirm that I’m not in the jungle this year,” he said.

In fact, it seems Mark could be involved in the same documentary as Anne.

“[I'm] not allowed to reveal too much but Anne, Shaun [Wallace] and me are doing some filming for ITV that involves travelling,” he told Digital Spy.

“I can confirm I am not doing the jungle this year because I will be in Melbourne filming The Chase Australia until December.

“It's in the same country but I am going to Melbourne, not Brisbane. Just in case anyone says they've seen The Beast on the plane to Australia.”

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
