Why hasn’t Tommy killed Ghost yet?

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from Power seasons 5 and 6.

Joseph Sikora went into a deep dive on his character’s motivations in Power season six during an interview with TVLine.

When asked why Tommy has not managed to kill Ghost yet, he told the website: “He’s weighing options.

“So maybe if Tariq [Michael Rainey Jr] is on board, maybe if Tasha [Naturi Naughton] is on board, maybe if LaKeisha’s [LaLa Anthony] on board, maybe we should take Ghost out.

In the first two episodes of Power season six, we have seen him try to win the trio round to his campaign to end Ghost.

For example, in episode one, he asked Tariq about Ghost, asking: “What would you do if something really bad happens to him?”

We have already seen what looked like one attempt at Ghost’s life by Tommy when he took a shot at him in the season five finale.

Sikora said of this to Hollywood Life: “For all intents and purposes, he meant to shoot Ghost.

“He got Angela and they had that little reaction afterward where’s he’s like, 'I think that’s better. Yeah, that was right. That was meant to happen. This was meant to be.'

“And I think that, for Tommy, to even get to a place where he’s willing to take a shot at his brother, he has to be totally drained of who he really is in a lot of ways, or at least the man that we’ve become so familiar with.

“He’s at the lowest point of his life at that point and now he believes that he has brought Ghost to the lowest point of his life, serendipitously, and now maybe we can start again.”

In his TVLine interview, Sikora also hinted that Ghost will manage to kill Tommy first.

He said: “I would argue Tommy is a methodical man, but he’s not a patient man.

“Tommy is not good at playing the long game, where Ghost is.”

This seems to suggest that the longer Tommy takes to kill Ghost, the more likely that Ghost will get him first.

When asked by the website whether Tommy fans should be worried about the character, Sikora said: “Absolutely”.

Power season 6 airs Sundays on Starz and Mondays on Netflix.
