The Walking Dead season 10 spoilers: Ezekiel’s death sealed in comic book twist | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The Walking Dead season 10 is set to follow it’s Comic book counterpart after Sunday’s sneak preview revealed Carol (played by Melissa McBride) has inherited a story that belonged to Michonne (Danai Gurira).

The season nine finale of the AMC hit show saw Carol and Ezekiel (Khary Payton) react to their son’s death after the survivors were met with a barbaric image as they entered Whisperer territory.

Fans will remember the sickening demonstration of power that saw Alpha make a border with the severed heads of the stolen Hilltop members.

Among the dead, four fan favourites met their end, including Tammy (Brett Butler), Enid (Katelyn Cacon) Tara (Alanna Masterson), and Carol’s son Henry (Macsen Lintz).

The latest spoiler explores the aftermath, revealing Carol has been away at sea working as a fisherwoman.

Although season 10 is set several months after the season finale, Carol is still deeply traumatised by her son’s death as Daryl (Norman Reedus) asks her what he’s looking for.

Carol says: “No. Honestly, no I tried to forget everything that happened. It was good.

“If we’re lucky, we never have to think about those skin freaks ever again.”

The preview shows a similar storyline to that of Michonne’s in Robert Kirkman’s comic books.

Issue 139 of the comics saw Michonne return after two years at sea, who also worked hard to distract herself from the horrors she has endured since the outbreak.

However, she never gets the chance to reconnect with Ezekiel before his shocking death.

Season 10 will see Ezekiel as the leader of Hilltop after the kingdom has to relocate to the farming colony.

However, the comic book proves a violent read as the King is one of a dozen victims decapitated by the whisperers.

Carol’s expedition may have just sealed Ezekiel’s death as the storyline is proving to be similar to that of the comic books.

Will King Ezekiel be killed before he gets the chance to reunite with Carol?

Moreover, there is a strong possibility Michonne could be joining him with receiving her own violent ending after the star’s exit was confirmed at this year’s San Diego Comic con

In conversation with Los Angeles Times, the actress revealed that she had some input into how her exit would play out.

Dana said: “I know nothing. But what I will say in my know-nothingness, the great thing about this show is they are very, very, fantastic at creating great structure for everyone’s story.”

“I was in a room where they have all the pictures of people who have left the show, and everyone’s exit has been so specific and really resonate in its own, very original way. And so there was no exception to that in my case, I’m very thankful for that.

“And I was allowed to be a collaborator. But they created a very, very, very sound structure of how Michonne exits, which I was very thankful for.”

The Walking Dead returns October 7 on FOX in the UK.
