The Walking Dead season 10: Showrunner drops Maggie Rhee bombshell | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Maggie (played by Lauren Cohan) was last seen on The Walking Dead in the first half of season nine before seemingly disappearing.

She left the Alexandria safe zone and Hilltop community during a time jump and has rarely been mentioned since.

But now it has been rumoured Maggie will be making a very welcome return when the AMC series resumes for season 10.

Speaking about the possibility, showrunner Angela remained tight-lipped but teased: “I’m not sure if I can say much about it right now.

“I’ll just say that we’re working on it.”

It comes after it was teased Maggie would not be returning to the Hilltop Community on her own.

In the comics, following the death of Glenn Rhee (Steve Yeun), Maggie falls for Dante, hinting he could be joining her.

Angela teased Dante would make an appearance but it might not be in the way fans of the comics expect.

“He is this roguish, fast-talking, sometimes charming, sometimes annoying guys who can sometimes put too much foot in his mouth, but is an interesting presence in the comics,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

“He’s actually a love interest of Maggie.

“But in our world, the content is a little different, and he will play an important role in the story in Alexandria.”

It’s not yet known how Maggie and Dante meet and even if the former Hilltop leader will return with him.

However, with teasers that Maggie went to join Georgie (Jayne Atkinson) at the Commonwealth, it seems likely they could have met there.

Could he return to Alexandria with a message from Maggie asking them to join her or with instructions on how to set up a safe city?

This certainly seems likely as in the comics, Maggie is elected president of the community which includes those from the Kingdom, Alexandria and Hilltop.

Elsewhere, it seems Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) could be turning over a new leaf with the help of Judith Grimes (Cailey Flemming).

Actress Cailey recently told fans at Fan Fest New Jersey she would like to see Negan as a good guy when the show returns.

When asked if he could ever turn a new leaf, she replied: “Yes. I am hopefully because I believe in him.”

Cailey referenced Negan’s behaviour in the season nine finale, noting: “You can see all the different sides to him.

“And, you can see how he has a special bond with Judith, and I think that’s gonna take him places in season 10.”

The Walking Dead is expected to return to AMC later this year.
