Game of Thrones: What does Missandei star really think of season 8? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Game of Thrones actor Nathalie Emmanuel first began starring as Missandei back in season three of the HBO fantasy epic. Her character grew throughout the seasons as did her relationship with Grey Worm (played by Jacob Anderson) before her tragic demise in series eight. But what did the actor really think of the controversy surrounding the final series?

What does Missandei star Nathalie Emmanuel think of season 8?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season eight.

Nathalie Emmanuel played Missandei in HBO’s fantasy epic Game of Thrones from 2013 until her character’s death in the final series.

The former slave turned Daenerys Targaryen’s (played by Emilia Clarke) trusted right-hand woman was a fan-favourite on the show.

Fans were left devastated when her character was killed by The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) in episode four of the final series.

The plot point was also a source of contention among fans who started a petition for the final series to be remade.

The petition calling for the reboot has been signed by over one million people.

Now the actor has spoken about what she thinks of the response to the final series of the show.

She recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight about what the showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff achieved.

She said: "In light of the reaction to the end of the season, which, by the way, I think most people I know enjoyed it – I think it's easy to focus on the negative, and I think people forget what those two did.

"And obviously the whole writing team and everyone responsible and involved, but I think people forget that.

“They literally made us hang onto their every word for 10 years – and to me, that makes them legends."

Emmanuel has also previously spoken out about the controversial petition that called on HBO to remake the final season.

She told TVLine: "Listen, I think it’s totally fine if you don’t like something. That's perfectly acceptable.

"What I didn't like was that people were signing a petition. You can't ask for receipts on art. You just can't. The art has been created for you, and you can either choose to like it or not."

The actor also told the publication she was "blown away" by the final episode of the show.

Other stars of Game of Thrones have spoken about their response to the final series, including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who played Jamie Lannister.

He said at Con Of Thrones: “The only thing I’ll say is that for anyone to imagine or to think that the two creators of this show are not the most passionate, the greatest, the most invested of all.

“And to for a second think that they didn’t spend the last 10 years thinking about how they were gonna end it, is kinda silly.”

HBO has also responded to the petition to remake the final series of Game of Thrones saying that it is not on the cards.

Game of Thrones season 8 is available to buy on Amazon Prime now.
