Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast host admits love of Wimbledon tennis star Roger Federer | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

The veteran broadcaster commented “I love Roger Federer”, in reference to the Swiss tennis star. He added the hashtag “#TeamRog” which is used by many of Roger supporters around the world. Yesterday Roger defeated his great Spanish rival Rafael Nadal.

This means he will compete in his 12th Wimbledon final on Sunday, having already won eight titles at the prestigious competition.

Later Dan posted a video of Roger playing Rafael with the caption “Federer is incredible.

“Always loved watching his beautiful mix of grace and grit.

“Nadal is also a wonderful champion and the backhand in the middle of this rally is a thing of true beauty”.

Dan has been a presenter on BBC Breakfast since February 2016.

He began as a sports reporter and continues to host the BBC show Football Focus.

He co-hosts BBC Breakfast with Louise Minchin, who started before him in 2006.

Ahead of Sunday’s final Roger commented: “This is like a school: the day of the test you’re not going to read many books that day.

“I don’t think there’s much I need to do in terms of practice.

“It’s quite clear the work was done way before.

“I think that’s why I was able to produce a good result today.

“From that standpoint I can go into that match very confident.”

Sunday’s Wimbledon final overlaps with the cricket world cup final between England and New Zealand and the British grand prix at Silverstone.

Earlier this week Dan jokingly suggested cricketer Chris Woakes would make a good UK leader.

After he took three Australian wickets in a crucial match Dan tweeted “Chris Woakes for Prime Minister”.

England ended up securing an eight-wicket win over Australia, with 18 overs left as spare.

BBC Breakfast airs on BBC One at 6am.
