Stacey Dooley, 32, appeared on the comedic news show The Last Leg on Channel 4 alongside presenter Adam Hills, 48, who probed the star on personal grooming whilst filming her investigative documentaries. The presenter shared a clip of a NBC’s news correspondent Matt Bradley who was reporting from Syria. However, the journalist in question was unaware the cameras were rolling and whilst live on air was filmed spitting into his own hand as he attempted to smooth his hair down. The host quizzed the documentary filmmaker and asked if she had a similar experience.

Adam asked: “Stacey you’ve reported from some pretty inhospitable places. Have you ever had to do something like that?”

Stacey knowingly replied: “We’ve all been there. Do you know what it is? Sometimes it’s not unusual for me to not wash for a couple of weeks.”

The studio audience were seemingly stunned by the Strictly star’s admission, before she quickly added: “But you can’t smell anything.”

Comedian Aisling Bea probed further, saying: “What… just generally or when you’re reporting?”

To which the journalist replied: “When I’m reporting. Say I’m in the Middle East somewhere or wherever, and we are somewhere quite remote and there’s no running water, it’s just baby wipes.”

To seemingly clarify what Stacey had told them, Adam said: “You just live on baby wipes for two weeks?”

Stacey said: “Yeah, you just use it in your special places.”

Comedian Alex Brooker added: “Like you’re at a festival?”

To which the Strictly Come Dancing winner laughed and nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, the investigative journalist took to her Instagram account to share a snap with her mum for Mother’s Day on Sunday.

The TV star shared two black and white snaps with her mum, as she wrapped her arms around her.

In view of her 706,000 Instagram followers, she simply captioned the photo: “Happy Mother’s Day girl,” followed by a heart emoji.

Elsewhere, it was reported the BBC filmmaker had split from her boyfriend Sam Tucknott after three years of dating.

The documentary maker is believed to have struggled to maintain her relationship with the personal trainer with their lives going in “different directions”, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication: “Stacey confided in her friends that she was struggling to hold down her romance with Sam because her life has been a whirlwind after Strictly.

“She barely saw him during the month-long tour and has gone straight back into filming documentaries and has been travelling all over the world.”

The source added: “They have a close circle of friends who hope things might yet work out but it’s not looking likely. It was very emotional and has been tough on them both.”
