Game of Thrones season 8: Jon Snow’s death revealed by Lyanna Mormont in season 6 | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Category: Entertainment,Gossip

In season six of Game of Thrones, viewers saw Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) defeat Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) and take back his family home, Winterfell.

As he took his father Ned Stark’s (Sean Bean) seat as Lord of Winterfell, the northern Lords decided to name him King in the North.

However this pivotal moment, which saw the former Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch take on the role of protecting the northern lands may have sealed his death.

One fan has pointed out the northern houses are only trusting of Jon as they believe he’s Ned’s son and hate Targaryens.

Reddit user mikeybuckets wrote: “Jon obviously gets hailed as King in the North by all of the northern houses at the beginning of the season because of his leadership skills but also primarily due to the fact that he is believed to be Ned Stark's son.

“The northern houses get over the fact that he is a ‘bastard’. Lady Mormont says ‘I don't care if he's a bastard, Ned Stark's blood runs through his veins.’”

The fan went on to theorise: “I am wondering how they will react when they find out he is not Ned's son, and is actually a Targaryen.

“As Jon is telling all of the northern houses that he will sail for Dragon Stone to meet with Dany, they all cry out for him not to go because ‘Targaryen's can't be trusted.’

“That sentiment stems from the remembering the acts of King Aerys against the Starks.”

The Reddit user added they believe Jon has proven himself to be a true northerner.

However, that may not be enough. Once Jon’s true parentage is revealed - if it is at all - it will certainly change the dynamics.

Fans have already seen in a first-look of the eighth series that the King in the North returns to Winterfell with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

The pair have struck up a romance but the Mother of Dragons looks set to face a frosty reception in the North.

Could their romance and Jon’s parentage lead to a shock U-turn from the northern Lords who may betray John - or even have him killed - as they change their allegiance to Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey).

Fortunately for fans, there isn’t too much longer to wait until the final outcome for the show is revealed.

It comes after actress Nathalie Emmanuel hinted her character Missandei could die alongside Daenerys.

Daenerys saved Missandei from a slaver in the early series of the show and the scribe has acted as her right-hand woman ever since - but that could be about to change.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Nathalie teased: ““I think it is very safe to say that the war is here for Daenerys, and Missandei marches right beside her, all the way.”

Could this mean the pair are going into battle together? And if so, will they make it out alive or perish?

Game of Thrones season eight returns April 14 to HBO and airs on Sky Atlantic at 2am and 9pm a day later.
