Game of Thrones season 8: Jon Snow star reveals he 'didn't get' show when it started | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Game of Thrones viewers may have needed some convincing to watch HBO’s fantasy show back in season one.

However it didn’t take long for Game of Thrones fever to sweep the planet, as its popularity grew exponentially over the years.

But Jon Snow star Kit Harington was not one of the instant fans of the show.

He recently spoke out about his first impression of the show shortly after reading the script - and it wasn't great.

Speaking to Esquire, Kit admits he remembers asking himself “What is this crock of s**t?”

He explained: “I remember thinking, I don't understand this.

“I’m going to have to read this again. And I read it again. And I'm like, I still don't get this s**t at all.”

Thankfully, Kit went on to convince himself to give the show a chance.

He continued: “I think it's kind of weird, but it's HBO and alright, let's do it. I would love to get this.

“And I think that's what people feel when they start watching it. Or when they hear about it. Like, No. Fantasy-weird.

“But you watch it, you invest in it, and you go, okay, I'll buy into this world. Fine. I'm in.”

Obviously this was the correct choice for Kit as he is now one of the most well-known actors in TV.

However it hasn’t come without some trauma for the actor, as he recently revealed in behind-the-scenes video.

The latest episode of Game of Thrones showed off Jon riding a dragon for the first time - but his unfortunately his testicle got caught in the buck being used to simulate the mythical beast.

He explained: “I think what sums up the buck for me was there was a bit where Jon almost falls off [the dragon].

“It swings round really violently and my right ball got trapped and I didn't have time to say stop and I was being swung round.

“In my head I thought, ‘This is how it ends, on this buck swinging me round by my testicles.’ Literally.”

The embarrassed star concluded: “Probably too much information.”

Hopefully Kit won’t see any similar situations in upcoming acting jobs.

Game of Thrones continues Sunday on HBO in the US and the following day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
