St Patricks day 2019 pour pint Guinness Ireland

Category: Food & Drink,Lifestyle

St Patrick’s Day festivities take place all over the world and no event would be complete without a pint or two of the black stuff.

Sticking to its Irish routes, every drop of the stout is manufactured in Dublin, the home of Guinness, and every batch is taste tested before it leaves the brewery to ensure only the highest quality produce is sent out.

To ensure all drinkers get the best experience, every can of Guinness is fitted with a special widget which sends jets of nitrogen through the beverage when the can is opened to create the famous creamy head.

The Guinness brewery have shared these tips to ensure every pint is top quality, whether at home or in the pub.

There are five main steps that should be taken to fill the best glass of the pub classic.

Chill the Guinness in the fridge for at least four hours, until the liquid reaches between five and seven degrees.

Then, open the can on a flat surface so the widget can effectively send nitrogen through the can.

Grab a clean and dry pint glass and tilt it to a 45-degree angle.

Next it’s time to pour the pint and this is best done slowly and steadily.

Once poured, let the liquid settle for around 60 seconds and watch the white head appear.

After that, it’s time to enjoy the perfect pint!

St Patrick’s Day and Guinness go hand-in-hand, but when did this began and why do we celebrate the day?

The Irish holiday falls on March 17 every year and honours the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick.

Saint Patrick was the national apostle of Ireland and his life has become more and more ingrained in Irish culture since his death in 461 AD.

People in Ireland have noted the day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years and more recently it has been celebrated with festivals and parades all over the world and is most popular in the US, Canada and Australia.

Now, for many people it is a great excuse to drink, eat traditional Irish food, dance and dress in green.

If looking for some food after a day of celebrating, the best fish and chip shops in the UK have been revealed - is there one near you

Krispies Fish & Chips in Exmouth, Devon, came out on top in the National Fish & Chip Awards 2019 by Seafish.

They beat off competition from nine other finalist shops to clinch the title.

On March 5, food and drink fans in the UK celebrated another holiday, Shrove Tuesday, but how do you make a perfect pancake

To make thick and flurry American-style pancakes, grab three large free-range eggs, 115g plain flour, one heaped teaspoon of baking powder and 140ml of milk.

Following a simple Jamie Oliver recipe, separate the eggs, add flour, baking powder and milk to make the smooth batter, ready for serving up.
