Richard’s girlfriend Sumudu Jayatilaka, 39, sang in front of the Queen, 92, for the Millennium countdown celebrations at the Millenium Dome in London in 2000. In an unearthed picture, she was seen singing solo while playing her piano in front of an audience. The singer made her BBC TV debut aged just 15 performing one of her own penned songs. While a student at Sheffield University, she also sang with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and has performed with the likes of Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick and Elvis Costello.

Last month a source reportedly revealed Richard, 48, has been dating Sumudu for a few months.

The insider claimed people have joked about the pair’s height difference with Richard standing at six foot and seven inches tall, while Sumudu is 19 inches shorter than him.

They told The Sun: “People joke because he’s a bit of a giant and she’s around 5ft nothing. But it seems like they were made for each other.”

Following the news, the pair were pictured holding hands during a stroll on a low-key outing.

Richard recently told the Daily Mail they had met through “mutual friends,” adding: “I just looked down and there she was.”

He continued: “I’m always looking down because everybody is short to me.”

But he insisted: “We don’t really notice the height difference, though.”

Days before being spotted out together, it was revealed they were seen together for the first time at the “Sports Quiz You Can’t Google” at James Blunt’s pub in the capital.

According to the publication, Sumudu said the pair are “very happy”.

To mark Valentine’s Day, the couple were believed to have gone on a romantic getaway to Austria together.

Richard posted pictures from the hotel he was staying in on his Twitter account, but neither party tagged each other in posts.

Last year, Richard introduced Sumudu ahead of her performance on a special edition of Pointless back in December.

The singer appeared on the Christmas special of the show to sing a rendition of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town alongside his co-presenter Alexander Armstrong.

He told the audience: "We have the lovely Sumudu accompanying my good friend Alexander with a lovely little version of Santa Claus is coming to town".

Richard previously dated Absolute radio host Emily Dean but the pair parted ways in 2017.

He also has two children from a previous relationship; a son and a daughter.

Pointless Celebrities airs tonight at 6.10pm on BBC One.
