fans unsurprisingly went into overdrive when new pictures of the cast were released, all sitting on the Iron Throne.

One of those was (played by Kit Harington), who is one of the favourites to end up on the Iron Throne.

And, while the King in the North certainly looks comfortable on the throne, one fan has hinted it could be foreshadowing his death.

Jon’s pose is very similar to that of Ned Stark (Sean Bean) when he could be seen on the seat of melted swords in the promotional poster for the very first series.

Fans know Ned was beheaded in the first run of the HBO show, which first aired in 2011.

With Jon’s pose mirroring that of the man he thought was his father, could it be the biggest hint yet that he will perish in the final run?

However, as it was recently revealed Jon is in fact a Targaryen, could it actually reveal his true future as leader of Westeros.

The eagle-eyed fan tweeted: “Nice touch of HBO to have Jon Snow assuming the exact same positioning as Ned Stark in the Season One promo photos in the new ones.

“Hint at something or red herring? #ForTheThrone.”

Fans will have to wait and see if the theory comes true when the show returns in six weeks time.

It comes after another fan believed in the new promotional photos.

She can be seen wearing a dark dress, which appears to be covered in scales, and one fan suggests they could be made from dragon glass.

Reddit user beastboi27 theorised: “Everyone thinks that they are just scales.

“The second I looked at it, I knew it was pieces of dragon glass embedded throughout the dress, used as a type of armour.”

Sansa has not been known for being a skilled fighter and will need all the protection she can get when the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) attacks - could it be her protection?

“What better armour then dragon glass?” the fan continued.

“I wonder if Sansa is the one who thought of that, or Dany offered it to her as a gift of goodwill, for her protection.

“Dany seems to be the one with the very intricate outfits, so it would make sense she would have something like Sansa's dress made.”

Fans already know Sansa and Daenerys will meet for the first time when the show returns thanks for a first-look teaser, which dropped earlier this year.

Sansa’s reception of the Mother of Dragons appears frosty but if Daenerys gave her a dragon glass frock, could their relations thaw?

Game of Thrones season 8 returns April 14 on HBO in the US, and the next day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Games of Thrones S1-7 Boxsets will be available on NOW TV from March 1 ahead of Season 8 launch in April.
