EastEnders spoilers: Viewers baffled as prop keeps makes appearing | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Jean Slater’s (played by Gillian Wright) pivotal cancer storyline reached its climax last night when the EastEnders resident discovered she had stage three ovarian cancer.

After much procrastination, the mother-of-two attended an appointment at the hospital to confirm her diagnosis, before learning she must start chemotherapy in a matter of weeks.

Most of Thursday’s double bill of the BBC soap was dedicated to the mother-of-two, from her barricading herself in her caravan to Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) escorting her to the hospital.

Despite this, some viewers attention was taken off Jean and projected on a rather peculiar topic, which whipped soap watchers into a bit of a frenzy.

Before Jean made the life-changing decision to see a doctor she was confronted by her family in a caravan park where she had been hiding since they found out about her health.

When Jean refused to let anyone in and locked herself in the mobile home, her granddaughter Lily (Aine Garvey) came up with a cunning plan to get inside the property.

The youngster convinced Stacey, Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) to hide her in a box waiting to be delivered to Jean.

Once inside the cardboard container and in the caravan Jean spoke aloud about her struggles with her state of mind.

"When you're a crazy person, everything looks crazy from the outside," she pondered.

"If you're calm, you're crazy-calm. If you're not, you're crazy-crazy. You have to be so aware of how everyone is seeing you.”

She continued: "There is no energy to be yourself. That's all I wanted, a bit of time to be myself. Do you understand that, Lily?"

Realising she had been spotted, Lily peeped through the holes, before begging her grandmother to “come home”, which Jean agreed to do.

Afterwards, the pair were seen enjoying each others company as they munched on biscuits together.

But they were not the only ones treating themselves to the snack, as Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) and Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) also ate the nibble at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting and then again in the streets later.

The reoccurrence of biscuits did not go unnoticed with eagle-eyed fans, as some of them took to social media to comment on the sighting.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “What’s with the biscuit propaganda?” as another joked: “Anyone fancy a biscuit after watching EastEnders.”

A third viewer asked: “Are @bbceastenders sponsoring.... Just all kinds of biscuits?” while another admitted: “EastEnders why all the biscuits? I want biscuits now.”

Questioning EastEnders producers, another quizzed: “What’s with the whole biscuit thing tonight?”

Someone else claimed: “Tonight’s episode is sponsored by...biscuits,” while a seventh fan quipped: “EastEnders is it keep mentioning biscuits day by any chance?”

EastEnders continues Monday on BBC One at 8pm.
