Dancing On Ice 2019 Brian McFadden leaves fans in tears over exit as he drops Alex Murphy | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Brian, 38, received his best scores of the series during tonight’s semi-final of , performing two routines with professional skater Alex Murphy, 29, on the dance show.

However, his efforts didn’t manage to win over the viewers at home as he faced former X Factor finalist Saara Alto, 30, in the skate-off.

Though it wasn’t the end of the drama for Brian as when the couple were coming to the end of their third routine of the night, the Westlife singer dropped his partner, leaving fans at home an in the studio shocked.

After they reassured hosts Phillip Schofield, 56, and Holly Willoughby, 38, they were both ok, it was revealed Brian and Alex were the couple to leave as the judges unanimously decided the fall sealed his fate.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the fallout, viewers expressed their disappointment Brian had fallen just short of the final next weekend.

One viewer posted: “@BrianMcFadden and @almurph18 you should be amazingly proud of yourselves. Gutted for you both. Looked forward to your skating every week. My absolute favourites #dancingonice.

Another added: “Wow I feel absolutely gutted for @BrianMcFadden .. the timing of the fall! However, certainly the most improved contestant throughout the whole show! #DancingOnIce.”

Whilst a third commented: “Gutted for @BrianMcFadden he should've been in the final #DancingOnIce,” followed by a crying face emoji.

“So gutted for Brian & Alex, leaving the competition this way. You both can hold your head high, well done #dancingonice Genuinely gutted about Brian and Alex final just won’t be the same now! #dancingonice,” a fourth stated.

A fifth remarked: “Gutted for @BrianMcFadden, what a horrible way to go out. His best dance tonight as well, loved his choice #dancingonice,” again followed by a crying face emoji.

As the outpour continued, a sixth opined: “Got to say that throughout #dancingonice Brian has always got better week on week. Thought he was great tonight, despite the fall, fair play.”

Before making his exit from the show, Brian was in a celebratory mood as when he received his best score of the evening and of the series after his second performance, the singer skidded on the ice as the audience cheered him on.

However, concerned he could do more damage after suffering injuries earlier in the series, Holly told him to rejoin his partner Alex to receive the comments on their performance.

Though it wasn’t just Brian who won the ice panel over this evening as former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan, 40, received the first perfect score of the series.

James received a total of 80 out of 80 for both performances, putting him at the top of the leaderboard.

After this evening’s dramatic semi-final, James will be joined by Saara and Love Island star Wes Nelson, 20, in next week's grand final.

One of the three celebrities will become champion, taking on the crown from reigning Dancing On Ice winner Jake Quickenden, 30, who won the show with Wes’ partner Vanessa Bauer, 22, last year.

In the final next Sunday, Christopher and his skating partner Jayne Torvill, 61, will take to the ice to perform.

Ahead of this tonight’s penultimate round, it looked like former Strictly Come Dancing professional James, could be in serious danger of not making it to the final.

Earlier this week, it was revealed the skating star had injured himself during rehearsals, with a hernia making it extremely painful for him to train.

Speaking to the Daily Star, James said: “I've ripped open my hernia. I've also got lower back pain because of it. I'm falling to bits.

“Managing injuries is getting harder as you get older.”
