Countryfile Viewers horrified as Matt Baker and Ellie Harrison eat scones | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Matt, 41, was joined by fellow presenter Ellie Harrison, 41, as the pair ventured around the English countryside.

After learning about the wildlife which inhabits the county, Matt and Ellie wrapped the show by enjoying some culinary delights.

The pair decided to indulge in a classic afternoon tea ritual by enjoying a scone with sweet jam and clotted cream to accompany.

However, viewers were not happy with the order in which the presenters decided to structure the scone as they decided to put jam on half the scone and cream on the other.

Taking to Twitter in light of the show’s conclusion, viewers were outraged by Matt and Ellie’s afternoon tea etiquette and didn’t hold back in letting their opinions known.

One viewer posted: “Scone:Jam:Cream that’s how you prep a cream tea. None of this half&half that I’ve just spotted on #countryfile.”

Another added: “Ellie you need some serious professional help, 1/2 & 1/2 is no way to treat a scone. #countryfile.”

Whilst a third remarked: “Half and half! That’s a travesty if you’re not gonna do it properly don’t bother #countryfile.”

A fourth opined: “Who on earth does half the scone in clotted cream and the other half in jam... it's got to be on top of each other whether its cream on jam or jam on cream. #countryfile.”

Continuing with the outpour, a fifth commented: “Matt and Ellie do not deserve clotted cream if THAT is what they're going to do with it!!! #rookies #Countryfile.”

A sixth stated: “Must be plain scones. Jam first, then cream on top. #countryfile,” whilst a seventh exclaimed: “Half and half clotted cream and jam scone on #Countryfile #madness.”

However, some viewers weren’t too fussed by the order in which the scone is constructed but were left rather hungry by the segment.

One viewer remarked: “#Countryfile And now I want scones and jam.”

Ellie and Matt are fan favourites, having presented the show for several years alongside the likes of colleague Anita Rani, 41.

Speaking to Express.co.uk ahead of her trip to Tanzania, Anita was asked if she was going to continue presenting Countryfile to which the presenter replied: “I hope so.
