Greatest Dancer 2019: Who left The Greatest Dancer tonight? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Category: Entertainment,Gossip

The BBC dance series aired tonight (Saturday, February 9) as the second live challenge show saw the remaining eight performers taking to the stage. Each week the judges or dance captains - Cheryl, Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse - have been given a different theme or a prop that has to be incorporated into their acts’ routines. This evening was no different as the acts found them taking on a new challenge in the hopes of winning over the judges but more importantly the public.

Who left The Greatest Dancer tonight?

Company Jinks and Prospects Fraternity became the latest acts to leave the competition after performing.

There are now just six acts left on The Greatest Dancer with the remaining hopefuls going into the next round of the competition.

Speaking about leaving the competition, a member of Company Jinks said: "We're just really happy we got to share what we do on this platform."

While a member of Prospects Fraternity added: "We're so thankful to have made it this far. We pushed ourselves to our limits."

The two acts were mentored by Matthew, who was understandably disappointed.

"Having two go home tonight is not fun," he said looking downhearted. However, he said his acts should be "proud" to have done so well.

Matthew now only has one act left in the competition in the form of James & Oliver.

The acts still in the competition are KLA, Harry & Eleiyah, Ellie, Dane Bates Collective, James & Oliver, and Frobacks.

Speaking about trying to meet the live challenges each week, Matthew told hosts Alesha Dixon and Ashley Banjo earlier on: “We’re working our butts off each week - it’s so hard!”

This week saw Oti take on ice and orchestra themes for her acts, while Cheryl took on Hollywood, four walls and social network, and Matthew had to use tables as a prop and the themes Les Misérables and toys.

Oti’s act KLA gave a sterling performance as they transformed into ice queens for a chilling routine that led tough judge Matthew to hail them for stepping outside of their comfort zone.

Last week Matthew was booed by the studio audience after criticising KLA for failing to bring something new to the table, however, tonight Oti actually thanked him for the comments because it led the act to push themselves further.

Meanwhile, Cheryl’s squad Dane Bates Collective took on truly glamorous and gritty Hollywood routine that focused on Marilyn Monroe and her relationship with the paparazzi.

The group was hailed by Oti, who praised them for moving together as a collective as well as the original performance by the dancer playing Marilyn.

Matthew’s Prospects Fraternity had to incorporate a table into their routine, leading to a school performance that got mixed reviews from Cheryl and Oti who felt they’d seen something similar before.

After each performance, the studio audience gave their feedback with a voting percentage shown onscreen.

Ellie, who is the only solo dancer in the competition, received the highest percentage of the audience vote this evening with 96.3 percent.

But the audience doesn’t have any control over the outcome, instead viewers at home voted for their favourite acts.

The judging panel then gave their opinions on each of the performances.

There are now just two episodes left in the competition with one more live challenge show before the final which will see one act awarded the coveted title of The Greatest Dancer.

The winner will win £50,000 as well the opportunity to perform on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Greatest Dancer continues on BBC One next Saturday at 7.35pm
