Virgin Radio Breakfast show host Chris Evans, 52, insisted he didn’t know head judge Shirley Ballas and her co-judge Darcey Bussell danced at the show, but was keen to watch. Chris made the remark after a colleague informed him about her experience at the recently-ended Strictly Come Dancing tour. His colleague described her views from her seat, before adding: “At the end, the judges came out and Shirley danced and Darcey danced and they were breathtaking.” He replied: “I didn’t know they both danced, now that makes me want to go straight away.”

His colleague added: “Shirley did the crazy crazy spinning that you’ve talked about on the show before - you can see online it’s amazing.

“Darcey - they kind of lifted her up - and she did this thing with her legs.”

Chris interrupted her asking: “Are these the technical terms for it?”

She replied: “You know when the horses go round on the carousel and they go up and down in that rhthymn? She was basically doing that in slow motion, like kind of gliding through the air, it was unbelievable.”

Chris then went on to speak about finalist Joe Sugg, who is partnered up with his now-girlfriend Dianne Buswell.

He told listeners: “Joe has won every single live show - do you know that?

“There’s a reason for it… and it’s to do with his fans but I can’t imagine they are there all the time.

“Because they’re kids and he’s up with the tech, can they hack the live show voting system?”

Laughing, his colleague hesitantly replied: “I don’t know.”

Chris responded: “That might be going on, it might not be going on… but good fun overall.”

Last year, Chris claimed he had agreed to join this year’s Strictly line-up but hadn’t yet signed up officially.

Speaking on The One Show, he said: “I have said yes.

"Everyone puts it off and tries and keep it a secret. No, announce now. We're doing it now.”

He then joked he had agreed to be a contestant on the show because his wife Natasha Shishmanian wanted to go to the studios every week.

Host Alex Jones added she will join her, to which Chris replied: “So you and my wife will go every week.

“You will have a great time while I'll be petrified backstage, with shaky legs and all that kind of stuff."
