X Factor 2018: Dermot O’Leary HITS BACK at Simon Cowell over criticism | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Category: Entertainment,Gossip

X Factor continued with movie week this weekend, where each of the contestants demonstrated their talents to the tunes of famous films.

And with Simon Cowell involved in the running, many of the acts were eager to take on songs from the hit film The Greatest Showman.

As the film is one of Simon’s favourites, a few acts took some of the award-winning songs under their wings to show Simon their skills.

However one band did not pluck one of The Greatest Showman’s songs - and it may not have been the best decision for them.

Misunderstood took on Maniac, by Flashdance, with a modern remix of the classic.

But it was not enjoyed by many of the judges, as Simon and Louis Tomlinson agreed the song was not the perfect fit for them.

Simon explained: “If this were the audition stage I would have stopped it ten seconds in and asked for another song.

“You should be telling me who you are, I shouldn’t be telling you.”

After all of the judges’ comments were taken, Dermot decided to chime in with his own comment.

Dismissing Simon he jumped in to say: “Not everyone can do a Greatest Showman song, Simon.”

Simon went on to explain himself once more before the show moved on to the next act.

And viewers of the show spoke out about the band’s act as well, with one writing: “Misunderstood… very uninspiring. Flat, boring… #xfactor2018.”

Another said: “Who picked that song for #Misunderstood? That was terrible!! They’re a great duo but that didn't do them any favours! #xfactor2018.”

While a third added: “First time I didn't like #misunderstood #XFactor #xfactor2018.”

However some viewers were still following Misunderstood’s journey to the end, with one adding: “Misunderstood to win!! #xfactor2018.”

“#Xfactor2018 Misunderstood are by far the best act on that show and will 100% win,” exclaimed another.

Earlier on in the show Simon snapped at Dermot after he spoke about losing his act Molly Scott.

Dermot said: “You lost Molly last week. You said it was your bad and I know today you changed a couple of songs with your acts."

To which Simon bluntly replied: “Yep,” before adding: “I’m not feeling nervous. It was a bit of a c**k-up last week, I will never dress as a mummy again."

X Factor continues tomorrow at 8.30pm on ITV.
