Saturday Kitchen: Matt Tebbutt’s gaffe DISRUPTS programme | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Category: Entertainment,Gossip

Today’s Saturday Kitchen presenter, Matt Tebbutt, was left a bit confused this morning when the show’s crew started to laugh at him.

Matt had no idea what he’d done to get such a reaction and his guest, singer Aled Jones, seemed puzzled as well.

Aled was on the BBC One cooking programme to promote his new album, In Harmony, which he recorded with Russell Watson.

However, he was also on the programme to taste some delicious food and Matt was going to make him watch how to make what he described as a “peasant soup” from Portugal.

“Now, I was in Portugal last week, and I came across this soup,” began Matt.

“It was a very sort of peasant soup. It’s very simple.

“It’s chicken stock, garlic, there’s an egg in it, lots of coriander.

“And toasted bread, or stale bread, so that’s what I’m going to do.

“So, first of all, chicken stock into a pan…”

This was when viewers could hear the crew laughing in the background, and the laughter also put Matt off from his cooking.

The camera then cut to Aled who looked very confused by what was going on.

“Hey? I wonder why they’re all laughing,” asked Matt whilst looking at Aled.

“I don’t know,” replied Aled who was utterly baffled.

Matt paused for a moment and then carried on with his “peasant soup” recipe.

It’s not entirely clear what the crew were laughing at exactly, but it could have something to do with Matt's idea to make “peasant soup”.

Matt then continued with the recipe whilst asking Aled about his new album.

However, when Matt served up the dish for Aled, there was yet another issue because he handed it to him with a fork.

“I tell you what, shall I get you a spoon for your soup?” asked Matt with a chuckle after realising his mistake.

“I don’t mind eating with a fork if you like,” joked Aled who then mimed trying to eat the soup with the fork and said: “It’s not working! What’s going on?”

Saturday Kitchen airs Saturdays on BBC One at 10am.
