Mary and her husband Giles have starred on the show since 2015 and have become fan favourites of the much-loved Channel 4 show.

The duo tend to leave viewers in hysterics as they usually share tales with fans.

It was no different on a recent episode as the couple brought up the topic of “food envy” where a person is jealous of someone else’s meal.

Giles admitted he gets it “terribly” but Mary admitted she was not at all jealous of what was on another person’s plate.

Giles said: "Yes, I get it very badly, because I want to eat anything my partner has ordered.

"If my partner has ordered something nicer than me, I want it."

Mary replied: "If I've ordered something that turns out to be a dud, I just get on with it. I don't perv over the other person's plate. You do."

The surprising revelation certainly took a horrific turn as Giles admitted he remembered the time a friend of theirs had stabbed his wife with a fork for picking food off his plate.

Giles said: “Do you remember that time that Jo took one of Jerry's chips and he stabbed her with his fork, and drew blood.

“It made for a very unpleasant evening, didn't it?"

Giles did not stop there as he said it was his friends instinct which made him react the way he did.

He continued: "He was so hungry, he didn't like this hand coming towards his plate and grabbing his food.

"His instinct was to... Even though it was his own wife, he stabbed her hand. It was terrible."

Mary seemed to remember the incident well and could not stop laughing.

Meanwhile, Mary recently up on a near-death experience which completely changed her life forever.

Speaking to The Guardian, she opened up about her shock when she developed Legionaries’ disease which is a lung infection which can be caught by breathing in tiny droplets of water containing bacteria.

She told the publication: "I caught it from air conditioning in the Bahamas and developed something called Beau’s lines: white ridges across the fingernails which are a sign that your body’s shutting down for death.”

“It knocked the stuffing out of me. I’ve never been quite the same since.”

It’s usually caught in places like hotels, hospitals or offices where the bacteria have got into the water supply, according to the NHS’ website.

Gogglebox airs Fridays on Channel 4 at 9pm.
