Tracking Hurricane Michael

Category: Other,Video News

Hurricane Michael was upgraded to an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 storm early Wednesday morning by the National Hurricane Center and poised to crash into the Florida Panhandle later in the day with potentially historic force. With maximum sustained winds of 130 mph, Michael is all but certain to become just the fourth major hurricane – Category 3, 4 or 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale – to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle since 1950, joining Eloise (1975), Opal (1995) and Dennis (2005). It may be even stronger before reaching land, the hurricane center said, warning of “additional strengthening” over the next several hours. On a full-throttle journey from the Gulf of Mexico, Michael will bring “life-threatening” storm surge, hurricane-force winds and torrential rainfall after developing from a seemingly minor tropical storm off Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. As of 2 a.m. EDT, Michael was moving north at 12 mph and positioned about 170 miles southwest of Apalachicola, Florida, and about 180 miles south-southwest of Panama City, Florida. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2018/10/10/hurricane-michael-category-4-florida/1586321002/
