The Walking Dead season 9 spoilers: Rick Grimes to exit AMC series alive? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Category: Entertainment,Gossip

The Walking Dead season nine is almost here, and viewers will soon find out how Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) will exit the show.

There have been many rumours on how his exit will happen, yet no one really knows how his departure will take place.

However, fans have been busy speculating and a recent poll conducted by Express.co.uk has revealed viewers don't think he will die.

Instead, many viewers are certain his exit could pave the way for a spin-off series.

40 per cent of viewers believe Rick will simply leave the main show and go on a new adventure.

With the recent news that AMC is planning a new spin-off series, it wouldn’t be hard to see this show feature Rick in some form or another.

Meanwhile, 20 per cent of viewers are of the opinion this whole thing had been a ruse and that Rick won’t exit the show at all.

If this does turn out to be true, then AMC would have successfully trolled The Walking Dead fans, and there’s the possibility that they wouldn’t react very well to the news.

Although, it's likely fans would be very pleased that Rick’s still alive and well on The Walking Dead.

13 per cent of viewers believe Rick will die trying to save the survivors, which will be in keeping with his heroic nature and wanting to help his friends and family.

A further 10 per cent of The Walking Dead fans reckon Rick will be killed by The Whisperers who are going to be the new threat in season nine.

The Whisperers are a group of survivors who cover themselves in walker flesh in order to walk among the dead and ambush the living.

Only seven per cent of viewers envisage a scene in which Rick is bitten and turned into a walker, which would be a very harrowing way for him to go.

Finally, the vote is split five per cent each between Rick being killed by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and joining the Fear the Walking Dead crew.

It has to be said both of these outcomes are very unlikely since Rick and Negan have an unusual bond and seem to need the other alive.

As far as Fear The Walking Dead is concerned, adding Rick to the picture wouldn’t really work since it would take the focus away from the main series.

Meanwhile, Andrew Lincoln’s co-star, Khary Payton, who plays King Ezekiel on the show, opened up about the British actor’s last day of shooting The Walking Dead.

“I’m sitting here thinking about it and I just and I smile on my face because he’s just such an incredible guy,” began Khary in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

He continued: “He’s such an incredible guy, and such a wonderful leader. Such an incredible actor.”

“It was an amazing and surreal moment to be there and to be a part of seeing not just Rick kind of walk away - I’m not sure how you want to say that he leaves the show - but the way Andy left as well."

The Walking Dead: The Complete Eighth Season is available on Blu-ray™ and DVD from 24th September 2018, courtesy of Entertainment One. The Walking Dead will return to AMC and FOX UK later year.
